We have received numerous calls from immigrants with HSMP visa checking to see how early could they apply for extension under Tier 1 General before the visa expiry period.
HSMP immigrants are allowed to switch under Tier 1 General anytime they wish as long as they requalify for the programme.
It's normally recommendable to make an application not five weeks before the expiry period to complete five years of continuous stay which would pave the way for making an Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) application without one more extension.
